10+ unexpected gifts (when no holidays around)

Photos by me - Unexpected gifts I have received and loved

My favorite thing in the world is playing Santa and if I could I would deliver a gift to everyone in this world.
My second favorite thing is surprising people when they least expect is, especially after big holidays like Christmas and Valentine or a big birthday. It could be a little sad after you have received all you expected and all you could do is long for the next event. That is the time I want to come up with something small and unexpected, showing my love and thoughts. Here are 10 easy and genuine ways from lovely bloggers to make sure you brighten someone's day and bring the Spring earlier to their hearts.

Valentine breakfast idea | Heart on egg

Valentine breakfast idea

I got super excited when this idea hit me, as I love to mix different holidays supplies. The heart totally belongs to Valentine, but the glitter is left from the Christmas time.

If you don't have time to prepare a full fancy breakfast for your loved one with everything in heart shape and red color, there is no reason to feel bad. Just add this subtle touch to his usual egg/eggs and I bet it will make the right impact. After boiling your egg as always, let them cool and pat dry. Draw a heart with glue (no need to be perfect and big) and toss the glitter above it. Another alternative is to write "love" or "I love you" with a thin tube glue and cover in glitter. Just like that, love will be shared.

Make one, two or as many as the ones you love. Such an effortless, personal touch. Because when you celebrate love, you show your own kind of love.
Wouldn't it be outrageous to make this every morning? Don't kill me, just saying :)

A small relationship tip

Over years and much failing I found myself saving me and my man from lots of arguing and fighting at times I was super mad or extremely sad by doing one simple thing.
I am a writing drawn person and sometimes I prefer expressing my emotions by text messages because I think I can plan my points better. Feel free to judge me and compare me to a young teenager, I'll be flattered :)
So you can guess how a text message can look like if my emotions tend to be on the negative side, like furious or disappointed. Well, it's much worse and much more characters than you can imagine.

But with time passing by, I used text messages to direct all my negative feelings and lead them out of my relationship. This was helpful especially in occasions when I wanted to tell him something that I knew I'd regret later for a hundred reasons, but I couldn't help but let it out of me. This way I started to write long, evil and ugly text messages and never press the send button, just save them to draft folder. Then calmness would come upon me and just like that my heart's rate would go back to normal.
Did you get the trick? I only needed to let the words out of me, like writing on your diary with strong pen strokes and tear drops on ink. Most of the times I'd erase the text right after some minutes, an hour or two and the longest would be the day after. Sometimes I'd go over and read every word again, a few times I'd still agree with myself but mostly I'd admit I was so overreacting in every word.
Let's wish it's not needed often, but I feel a bit more secure and mature (such a paradox, I know) since I figured out how to use this small magic when things aren't smooth.

What do you think of this? Could it be useful for you or you prefer unlimited face to face talk, no matter how bad things go after you throw some harsh words?
Do you consider the other one's feelings and wait until your head is clear to think about their side of the story, or do you put yourself first at the moment and follow your angry/sad heart?
I am curious to read all your trusted anger management tips now that you know mine :)

Easiest Valentine gift ever (with lights gone out)

The tittle in this case is literate, as I really put this gift together with only a hand torch by me last year. It happened to have the lights go out the evening I planned to make this gift but it didn't turn me down. Actually I enjoyed the whole process, but I cannot say the same for my camera, with all the flash I had to use.
The only preparation I had done earlier in the day was to find a proper box and base (I had both in hand) and buy the candy (I chose his favorite).

Here is the full list of what you will need:
  • thick cardboard (mine is heart shaped and it used to be a cake's base from a usual bakery-so try your luck in bakeries if you wish. You can cut a not perfect heart yourself or you can go with round or rectangular for a more classic look)
  • a box slightly bigger than the base (it can be heart shaped or round or rectangular to follow the base. I'd love to try with a square one someday, I can already imagine how unixpected and classic it would look)
  • scissors, xacto knife, pen/marker, glue (I used double sided and gum glue to prevent ruining the base, but any kind of hard and instant drying one will be perfect)
  • ribbon
  • piece of paper depending on what you will write (I used an old fax roll and teared it by hand for a more vintage look)
  • candies, sweets

1. Start with the note. Write down a word, two or a thousand, it's up on you. I suggest to write first than adjust the paper.

2. Glue a dot in the middle of the base and put the middle of the ribbon.
3. Than add the middle of the paper stripe. Roll the paper using a pen or your hands.

4. Tie the ribbon around it, but not too tight. Now that the most difficult part is done, the fun comes by. Start putting the candies around the note, living it the center of attention. I went with different kind of chocolate bites and bars, but it would look great even if you use one kind only.

5. If you wish do the bottom side too, like I did, or leave it like that too avoid a mess and falling pieces when they will open the present.

6. Put it carefully in the box and add papers if you need. Red one would match nice in my case. Tie a big ribbon around the box or nothing at all to keep the mystery longer.

Finally you can enjoy a big smile and chocolate teeth on the one you will surprise. My man cherished it for several days last year, eating the treats one by one. The best thing is that the note can be saved alone when the candy is gone and they don't have space to keep the box. Let me know if you like it and if you plan on making one this year to spread the love :)

P.s : for all you who didn't buy that lights gone out thing ;)

My February kick start

January was hard for me, the hardest I remember in years. It felt like a black hole, where everything stopped and I could not put my engine into normal work, keeping all desires and ideas on stock. While I'd love to deeply analyze the reasons of why this happened, I am thankful I made it sane into February and I will quickly move on for now and show you something fun.
It was one of the most exciting things that I did lately, a workshop in fashion design, focused in the futuristic theme for a women's SS 2013 collection. Here are some random shots during the process, the inspiration and the final result until now. We are planning on creating the real dresses in a couple of weeks, so hopefully I will update you again.

Class mess with all the supplies. One third of the stuff in only mine.

Another interesting news I have for you is a super easy Valentine gift idea you can make with lights off (literally). Be sure to come by tomorrow for the full tutorial.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did :)

Super easy Valentine gift idea
Off I go to kick start my February with growth, creativity, project making, fun living and spreading wings goals in mind (I guess I deserve some goal making this month considering I took January off unlike everyone else :D).
You will see love and projects flowing in the air this month on the blog, as a tribute not only to S. Valentine, but also to my personal month of love (yaaay)!

May you all have a joyful Sunday and a bright February :)
