Party in a box

Back in July I got a lovely package at the post office, right before my birthday. I won a giveaway (my first one - yay!!) hosted by Victoria of A Subtle Revelry, a blog I have been reading everyday the last year. The gift was a party kit by the Party in a box company and I got some dotted invites and envelopes, polka dots paper straws, a couple of balloons and wooden cutlery. The lovely Giulia, owner of the Canadian shop made sure to post the package immediately and by airmail, so I could have it on time for my birthday. I am a sucker for party kits, picnic stuff and everything dotted and colorful.

What made my heart bump of excitement was a handwritten note by Giulia wishing me. That little touch was a present on its own. One might say it is such a little gesture and wonder why am I even pointing that out. Because she might have just send me the goodies and that's all, I wasn't even buying the kit, I won it, so you get my point. I have always admired people who put that little extra touch, especially those in the business. We don't get to see that much everyday, so I encourage you to go a little step further anytime you can when it costs nothing.

Back to the kit, my favorites are the straws and the wooden cutlery. I didn't use them all for my birthday, so I am looking for a way to bring them out in these last hot sunny days, probably in a special picnic I am planning (I will post more about this in the following days).  What I am still undecided about is whether to keep the main palette white so these cuties pop out probably, or to pair them down a little with neutrals and more grown up hues. I will let you know soon ;)

Thank you Victoria and Giulia for the lovely gift and for being great at what you do :)
